Boating

Riverside State Park offers several kinds of boating adventures:

  • Lake Spokane (or Long Lake), a 25-mile long reservoir at the north end of the park. A boat launch just off Highway 291, near the confluence of the Spokane and Little Spokane Rivers, offers access to the east end of Lake Spokane. There are numerous stumps and sand banks in the east end of the lake. Read the material on the bulletin board at the boat launch, and use caution at all times.

There is a $7 boat launch fee, or buy a yearly pass for $70.

  • The Spokane River, running through the middle of the park for nearly ten miles, offering adventure for canoes, kayaks, rafts and rowboats. Parts of the Spokane are dangerous (up to class III), especially to those who do not recognize the hazardous nature of moving water.

  • The Little Spokane River, a six-mile meandering river in a natural setting, ideal for canoes and kayaks. Because it is a natural area, alcohol, pets, swimming, and inner tubes are prohibited.
