Accessibility
Riverside State Park is
accessible to all people, with some design restrictions at the current time.
The Bowl and Pitcher area has
ADA parking stalls, and paved trails leading down to the Swinging Bridge. The trails are
at about a 5% grade for about 100 feet. The bridge itself is mostly suitable for
wheelchairs and for others with limited mobility. Be aware that there are cracks between
the boards on the bridge.
The restroom in the lower campground (the group camp)
is fully ADA accessible. It is open to anyone needing ADA restroom facilities even if a
group is using the camp. All of the other full-size restrooms are not ADA accessible. ADA
vault toilets are available at the boat launch, Painted Rocks, along the Centennial Trail
at the Carlson Trailhead, McLellan trailhead, Wilber trailhead, Gate 37, Military
trailhead, Islands trailhead, Maringo trailhead, Harvard Road, and Barker Road.
The Aubrey L. White Parkway
allows for all visitors to tour the spectacular scenery of the park on the east side of
the river. The west side has limited opportunities for those with limited mobility; the
Bowl and Pitcher overlook has views accessible by car.
The Spokane House has a ramp
for those with limited mobility. Once above the stairs, there is ample room for access
inside and maneuverability. Restrooms are not ADA designed.
