Camping Passes

There are four passes that discount camping fees in Washington State Parks.

Off-Season Senior Citizen Pass

You get: Free nightly camping
Cost: $50
Use it October 1 - March 31
and Sundays through Thursdays in April
To Qualify: Proof of residency and age 62 or older
Pass Color White and Green
Note You may request this pass after August 1 each year

Senior Citizen Limited Income Pass

You get: 50 percent discount on nightly camping or moorage fees, the price of the Off-Season Senior Citizen Pass, and the price of a Water Trail Permit. You also receive free watercraft launching and trailer dump fees.

To Qualify: Proof of residency, age 62 or older, and proof of income
Pass Color Orange plastic

Disability Pass (one year and five year)

You get: 50 percent discount on nightly camping or moorage fees, and the price of a Water Trail Permit. You also receive free watercraft launching and trailer dump fees.

Pass Color Green (five-year) or Red (one-year)

You get: Free nightly camping or moorage fees, camping reservations through Reservations Northwest, and the price of a Water Trail Permit. You also receive free watercraft launching and trailer dump fees.

To Qualify: Proof of residency, veteran's status with a service-connected disability of at least 30 percent.
Pass Color White plastic

Proof of Age: You must be 62 years of age or older for senior citizen passes. To prove age, use your Washington State driver's license or identification card, birth certificate, notorized affidavit of age, or a witnessed statement of age.

Proof of Income: You must have an income of $35,000 or less and meet the requirements for a property tax exemption under the Revised Code of Washington 84.36.381. If you are married, then your spouse's income must also be included. Eligibility is determined on the income, including Social Security, for the full previous year.

Proof of Disability: You must provide certification of your condition in writing on official letterhead stationery or have thepass application form signed by the agency, company, or doctor who had declared the disability. The document must also certify that you are receiving disability payments, except where noted. A Permanent Disability Parking Permit (issued by the Department of Licensing) may be also used as proof of disability.

Disability Qualifications:

  • Legally blind: 20/200 or less in your best eye with correction, or contraction of visual field to not greater than 20 degrees.

  • Profoundly Deaf: Hearing loss of 75 percent or greater in best ear unaided.

  • Developmentally Disabled: If entitled by the Department of Social and Health Services to benefits for permanent disability as a developmentally disabled person

  • Permanently Disabled: You must meet the disability definition used by the United States Social Security Administration.

  • Short term Disability: Good for one year if you meet the disability requirements with a condition that may change.

  • Disabled Veteran Status: Provide one of the following:
    disability award letter, or
    certification from the Department of Veterans Affairs, or
    separation certificate or similar document from the certifying agency, or
    have the pass application signed by the Department of Veterans Affairs or military service.


Foster Parents :

Foster Parents and related caregivers are eligible to reserve a campsite or drop into a park to occupy a site without a charge for the site under the following conditions:

  • Continue to be a Washington resident

  • Continue to be a caregiver after one year.

  • Pay any/all fees except the published price of a camp site, i.e. reservation fee, additional campsites, extra vehicle fees.

  • Provide accurate and complete information when registering at the park or reserving a site through the call center.

  • Carry and show both a state photo identification (drivers license) and DSHS ID.
  • Follow the rules of the park a couple of rules: maximum of 8 people in the site, maximum of two vehicles within a site, only one of which is or equivalent to an RV (space permitting), keeping booked reservations or canceling 48 hours prior to arrival time (if possible).

Rules for Pass Holders

You must have your pass with you and it must be current.

You must be a member of the camping unit

Your guests who camp in a separate campsite must pay the regular fee

Campers are limited to standard limits of length of stay

Passes do not provide discounts for annual permits, reservation fees, or other services unless noted above

You must be using a Washington State Park

May not be used in conjunction with any other pass or discount.
