Centennial Trail

centrail.gif (2247 bytes)The Centennial Trail is a wide, paved pathway that meanders along the Spokane River, stretching from the Idaho border 37 miles downstream to Nine Mile Falls, northwest of Spokane. The trail is generously wide, allowing hikers, bikers, rollerbladers, and other foot-powered travelers to enjoy a leisurely stroll or an energetic workout.

Numerous trailheads along the trail allow visitors to conveniently enter or exit the trail. Patrols of the trail on foot or bike by uniformed park rangers, city police officers, and Sheriff's deputies are increasing to add to visitor safety and enjoyment.

The trail is jointly managed by Riverside State Park, the city of Spokane, Spokane Valley, Liberty Lake, and Spokane County, with Washington State Parks as the lead agency, and the Friends of the Centennial Trail as the lead fund-raising and public relations assistant.

Maps of the trail, published by REI, Inc. and Avista, are available for a $5 at the Riverside State Park office, the Friends of the Centennial Trail office, and at REI.

The Friends of the Centennial Trail is a nonprofit corporation whose purpose is to assist and encourage the development and maintenance of the Spokane River Centennial Trail, the adjacent State Park development, and connecting trails.

Memberships, medallions, and other gifts support the efforts of the Friends of the Centennial Trail.
