How
to Get to Riverside!
It's not easily apparent how
to get to Riverside State Park's front door. Roads from nearby Spokane can be confusing to
first time visitors. Here's the secret to the easiest way to get to Bowl and Pitcher and
to the park areas to the north, such as the Little Spokane River, the ORV area, Deep
Creek, and Nine Mile Falls and beyond:

From Interstate 90, take the Maple Street Bridge exit, Exit 280. Go north across the Maple
Street Bridge, and about one mile further north to the second signal
light (Maxwell Street) after crossing the bridge. Turn left on Maxwell,
and follow it as it
winds westward and then northward as Pettit Drive to Downriver Golf Course
and then into Riverside State Park just beyond. The Bowl and Pitcher is
about two miles north of the park entrance along Aubrey L. White Parkway.
For park features to
the north:
From Interstate 90, take the Maple Street Bridge exit, Exit 280.
Go north across the Maple Street Bridge, and angle left at the fourth signal
light about two miles beyond the bridge. This puts you on Northwest Boulevard.
Follow the Boulevard,
with beautiful views of the park below, until it becomes Assembly. Stay on
the road another mile north until it ends at Francis/Nine Mile Road (Highway
291). Turn left onto
Nine Mile Road, and go northward to the area of the park you want to reach.
To reach the campground, turn left on Rifle Club Road. Go through the residential area. Take a left at the river; follow the Aubrey L. White Parkway 2 miles.
From Nine Mile Road, the ORV area is to the left at Seven Mile. Spokane House and the Little Spokane
River
Natural
Area
are
beyond Nine Mile Falls, a spectacular waterfall and dam at the site of the
original Nine Mile Falls. The park headquarters is located across the dam
on Charles Rd just after the town of Nine Mile Falls.

Arriving by air:
Spokane International Airport (GEG) is a major facility, serving several large and small
airlines. Many car rental companies are at the east end of the airport. Take the road
eastward from the airport to get to I-90, then follow the directions above.
Arriving by rail: The
Amtrak station is downtown. Funny thing is, the trains arrive and leave at 1 in the
morning! |
